Overview

This journey takes you through the serene Forest-Khangai Mountains of Central Mongolia and the breathtaking Khuvsgul Lake region. Discover the ancient capital of Kharkhorum, the spiritual centers of Erdenezuu and Amarbayasgalant Monasteries, and witness the iconic reintroduced wild horses (Takhi) in Khustai National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

• Arrival and hotel transfer

• City tour: Chinggis Square, Chinggis Khaan Monument, National Museum, Gandan Monastery, Zaisan Hill

• Traditional folklore concert

• Welcome dinner & overnight at hotel

Day 2: Amarbayasgalant Monastery

• Drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, renowned for its intricate wooden architecture without iron nails

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 3: Uran Togoo Volcano

• Drive through Erdenet city, home to Mongolia’s largest copper mine

• Visit Uran Togoo, an ancient dormant volcano

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 4: Khuvsgul Lake

• Long scenic drive to Khuvsgul Lake, "Mongolia’s Switzerland"

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 5: Reindeer People (Tsaatan Family) Visit

• Visit Tsaatan families and shamans (~50 km from the camp)

• Cultural immersion with reindeer herders

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 6: Zuun Lake via Murun Town

• Visit Murun's local black market

• Drive to and relax around Zuun Lake

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 7: Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park

• Explore White Lake, volcanic mountain, and caves (Yellow Dog, Ice, Zaluuchuud)

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 8: Tsenkher Hot Springs

• Drive past Chuluut River Canyon and Taikhar Rock

• Enjoy the natural hot springs at 1860m above sea level

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 9: Ancient Capital Kharkhorum

• Visit the historic ruins of Kharkhorum, Mongolia’s ancient capital

• Explore Erdenezuu Monastery – the first Buddhist center in Mongolia

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 10: Khustai National Park

• Spot the reintroduced wild horse (Takhi) and other wildlife

• Learn about conservation efforts

• Overnight at tourist GER camp

Day 11: Return to Ulaanbaatar

• Visit Bogd Khaan Palace Museum

• Free time for shopping and relaxation

• Farewell dinner & overnight at hotel

Day 12: Departure

• Check out and transfer to airport
